POWERHOME Solar CEO Jayson Waller has an uncanny knack for drawing people in. His voice drips with belief and conviction. His stories flow like water and leave you wanting more. This presence is a gift, and it was on display in late June on the outskirts of Charlotte, N.C., as Waller filmed commercials that will be airing in all of our markets.
On this day, Waller flipped the switch from tackling the most important of business decisions just minutes before the shoot began to going into sales mode and building rapport with customers through his message of clean, renewable solar energy. No cue cards here, just deep knowledge of his business and authenticity.
“Everything is just throwing it from the gut,” Waller says.
But as much as this freshly-minted Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 Southeast winner is all about business, he finds time to squeeze in some fun. For example, when one of the two cameramen asked Waller to speak as part of a microphone check, Waller gave a most delightful answer.
“I had a protein shake and a banana. … And a donut. I cheated a little bit,” Waller said to laughter on the front lawn of this set.
What makes Jayson Waller the perfect POWERHOME pitchman
From there, it was go time, with his first takes being near flawless. A veteran of many radio spots, Waller is already well-versed into squeezing as much messaging as he can into a 30-second window. What is most impressive to all on set is how quickly he can internalize constructive criticism from our in-house director Nicole Hanson and put it into words seconds after hearing it. There is no wait-five-beats-and-then-start silence. He hears the directive and attacks. More often than not, he hits on everything he needs. Sometimes he’ll forget something or flub up on words, but he’s quick to forgive himself and move on to the next take.
Other barriers included the neighbor’s air conditioning unit, children intrigued by the shoot’s activity, dogs, wind and cars driving by. One was particularly humorous, stopping Waller before he was ready to begin another take.
“Papa John’s … and it’s here,” he said.
We won’t reveal too much from his three-hour shoot, but here’s another small taste of what’s to come in our eight-state footprint.
For those who don’t need to hear Waller’s future messaging, the timing has never been better to go solar than now. POWERHOME does everything in preparation for your install, and its in-house teams will install your ground-mounted or roof-mounted arrays as well. The one-stop shopping is a big selling point for our customers, and we’d be happy to take you on a journey of owning your power, not just continually renting it from the power company. Call us at 800-765-2715 to see if your home qualifies to go solar, and we’ll take care of the rest.
