Is solar viable in Pennsylvania? You better believe it is
Western Pennsylvania is POWERHOME Solar’s newest market, and we are excited to share the opportunity of owning your power, lowering your utility bill and going green to those potential customers.
Whenever we enter a new market in the northern United States, there can be skepticism about whether solar is viable in that area. A sampling of the Pennsylvania comments include:
“If only we got enough sun in PA!” or “Last I checked, the sun doesn’t shine enough here to make solar worth it!”
The easiest way for us to dispel that myth is to meet it with facts pulled from the International Energy Agency.
The IEA notes that in 2016, Germany was the world’s per capita leader in solar energy, yet it is far less sunny than Pennsylvania. So if it works well in Germany, it will work well in Pennsylvania.
SOLAR EDUCATION: POWERHOME teaches the ABCs of going solar at your home
Remember, even on cloudy days, solar panels will produce some electricity — think about the last time you got a sunburn on a cloudy day. Cloud cover does not shut you out from solar production.
While the winter months provide the fewest amount of hours of sunlight (and thus the lowest amount of potential solar production), it’s important to note that the goal of your solar energy system is to offset your energy usage over an entire year, not any given day, week, or month. In the sunnier summer months, your system can generate more energy than you use, generating electric bill credits. In the cloudier, winter months, your system may generate less energy than you use, and you can use the credits you generated during the summer. And that is why solar is very viable in western Pennsylvania — just like it is in Michigan and Ohio, our two other northern markets.
We’re excited to begin working with Pennsylvania homeowners, and we want you to join us on that solar journey.
With our innovative solar program, homeowners can go solar for $0 up-front cost, save money on their electric bills, and generate their own clean energy. The solar panels installed on your home are American made and come with a 30-year warranty, with many panels expected to last well beyond that.
Please feel free to contact POWERHOME Solar at 800-765-2715, and one of our solar representatives will help you determine whether your home qualifies for this program. Don’t rent your power, own your power!
