Britton Colquitt calls the Browns “America’s Team.”
“With all the new players and the success we’re having compared to the past seasons and Hard Knocks and everything,” the punter explained.
That’s what he credits to being the leader at his position in fan voting for the Pro Bowl.
“Otherwise,” he said, “people usually don’t even know who the punter is.”
“The solar commercial definitely had something to do with it,” kicker Greg Joseph interjected.
“The commercial might have helped,” Colquitt admitted.
We’ll get to that commercial.
The reality: Cleveland fans love their punters. Mention Reggie Hodges, and they all remember that 68-yard run on a fake punt against the Saints in 2010. Chris Gardocki might not be a household name, but Browns fans know him. Bay High School alum Dave Zastudil has done work on the team’s radio network.
And who can forget Spencer Lanning, even if its more for something that happened to him?
