Power Home Solar helps Detroit Lions, Ford Field go green

There’s a new kind of energy at Ford Field and the Detroit Lions’ training facility.

Earlier in July, Power Home Solar and Roofing, which currently does business in five states including Michigan, installed solar panels on both a Ford Field garage and the Lions’ training facility in Allen Park.

The solar installations are one way that Power Home Solar is helping support the Lions’ go-green initiative to maximize energy efficiency and minimize their carbon footprint with renewable energy solutions.

“We are proud to partner with the Lions on this,” Power Home Solar co-founder Jayson Waller said. “Solar power is an affordable, effective way for the organization to address sustainability and environmental challenges for future generations of Lions players and fans, and we’re really excited to help drive the movement!”

The Lions join a short, but growing list of NFL franchise leaders utilizing solar energy to save money on costly electricity bills, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and build healthier, more sustainable communities.

“I’m a huge proponent of saving the planet and going green,” Lions punter Sam Martin said in the video shown above. “On top of that, the cost efficiency of it is awesome as well. But my reach is only so far. It’s awesome now that the Lions are getting involved in continuing their initiative going green, reaching hundreds of thousands of fans every season. It’s a great movement to be involved in, and I’m super excited.”

As part of their partnership with the Lions, Power Home Solar also will work with the organization to help Lions fans go green by offering clean energy solutions through promotions, giveaways, and education on solar power and environmental sustainability during the 2018 season.
