POWERHOME is excited to announce we’ve expanded our sports-related partnerships by teaming up with NC State Athletics! As part of that partnership, we will be installing solar panels at Carter-Finley Stadium, home of the NC State Wolfpack football team, in early 2020. The solar panels will be installed on southern end of the football stadium, atop the Murphy Center. This project will mark the first POWERHOME solar array at a university.
For those who already follow POWERHOME’s social channels, you probably saw this coming. We’ve had activation booths at a number of Wolfpack football games during the 2019 season, as our crew was outside of Carter-Finley stadium educating folks on the benefits of solar power, distributing prizes and making some friends.
The school’s 2017-2022 Sustainability Strategic Plan includes modeling sustainability through efficient, innovative facilities and operations that educate the campus community and improve the quality of life. This initial solar panel installation falls directly in line with the plan and lays the groundwork for future renewable energy projects.
“NC State Athletics is committed to being a leader in sustainability through decreasing our energy consumption,” said John Portland, Senior Associate AD/Facilities, Operations & Capital Projects. “We are excited to partner with an organization that aligns with our energy savings initiatives that will help us educate Wolfpack fans about the simplicity and benefits of solar energy.”
Not only has POWERHOME been at a number of football games, we also have been on site at many of the men’s home basketball games. We plan to be in PNC Arena for six more games through March 6. Look for the POWERHOME branded display and stop by to learn how you can reduce your carbon footprint like NC State.
POWERHOME sees opportunity to help academic institutions
POWERHOME sees this solar panel installation as a chance to help the university reduce its environmental impact and set an excellent example for Wolfpack students and fans.
“We appreciate the opportunity to support NC State in its ongoing sustainability initiatives, and we are honored that university leadership trusted us to add solar at Carter-Finley Stadium,” said POWERHOME CEO Jayson Waller.
The POWERHOME team foresees the ability to help other schools execute their sustainability plans and look forward to what 2020 and beyond will hold!
In the meantime, we’ll see Wolfpack fans before tipoff on December 22nd, when NC State faces The Citadel!
