Solar industry expected to more than double in size by 2023
It’s a question that many think about when charting their career path: Where do you want to be in five years? For the solar industry, it’s already projected where it’s going to be in 2023.
The Solar Energy Industries Association released its 2018 third-quarter report, and it projects photovoltatic capacity to more than double over the next five years. With 1.7 gigawatts installed this quarter, there are 60 gigawatts of solar already installed in the U.S., which is enough to power 11.3 American homes. By 2023, over 14 gigawatts of PV capacity will be installed, an indication that consumers will continue realizing the value of solar not only for their own pocketbook but the environment.
Interestingly, the 1.7 gigawatts installed in 2018 Q3 is 15 percent less than what was installed in the same quarter a year ago, but try telling talk of a slowdown to POWERHOME Solar, which has seen its business grow into two more states within the past year in Ohio and Pennsylvania and is on pace to set a company revenue record for the year. POWERHOME now serves six states and employs over 600 people, and it’s poised for more growth in 2019.
