The Woodward Dream Cruise will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this Saturday, and POWERHOME Solar will be part of this massive, momentous event just northwest of Detroit.
The Dream Cruise, which began as a small fundraiser in 1995 to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale, now draws 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars annually. It takes place on a 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue, from Pontiac to Ferndale, and primarily gives attendees the chance to see classic cars navigating this esteemed Motor City roadway. But the cool part is how businesses can participate too, and POWERHOME Solar, which has Michigan offices in Troy, Chesterfield and Grand Rapids, will be doing that in a big way.
POWERHOME will have approximately 20 of its vehicles in the Cruise (with Solar Dog making a special guest appearance!), and it will have four activation booths along the route where you can learn more about going solar at your home or business. You’ll see us nestled in a 2-mile stretch between 14 Mile and 11 Mile. From north to south, here’s where you can find our teams.
POWERHOME Solar Dream Cruise locations
Pioneer Park Family Fun Zone: Amid this area filled with children’s activities, you’ll see us there from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Pioneer Park is located on the west side of Woodward Avenue, at Parkway Drive. We’ll have a solar-powered phone charging station there too!
Normandy Plaza: Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Normandy Plaza is located on the west side of the Woodward at Normandy Road.
Duggan’s: This is also on the west side of Woodward, about 1/3 of a mile south of the Normandy location. Before or after you stop for some great food and drinks at this cool Irish pub, make sure you come by and utilize our other solar-powered phone charging station!
Westborn Market: This location will be open the longest, as we’ll be up and running from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. You’ll see one of our Ford Fiestas at this location.
Powering our future with solar
While the Dream Cruise is all about remembering what life was like in the heyday of the 1950s and 1960s, we prize this opportunity to tell people about the value of transitioning from dirty power sources such as coal and natural gas and replacing that with clean, renewable solar energy.
Solar power has never been better, and with escalating costs for electricity in Michigan, solar presents an excellent alternative to lock in your price for power for the long haul and insulate yourself against further increases. On top of that, when power outages occur, you have backup power to keep three of the most important loads of your home running.
Solar power is a great alternative in Michigan, in large part because of the high cost of power there. Michigan is just outside the top 10 in the nation in highest electricity prices for residential customers, so chances are you’re feeling the pain of high power bills.
Going solar with POWERHOME, the No. 6-ranked residential rooftop solar installer in the U.S., reduces the amount you pay the power company and shifts your energy cost to a product that you can own. You take control of your energy needs, and over the lifespan of your solar system, you will emerge a savings winner.
Call us at 800-765-2715 to see if your home qualifies for solar. Not everyone who wants solar can get it, but for those who can, it’s a great way to secure a cleaner energy future for yourself and your children. We love nostalgia, but there’s no nostalgia with unclean energy sources. Stop by any of our activation locations on the Cruise, and we’d be happy to tell you more!
