Q1: Why is the output voltage of a constant current LED driver a range?

Unlike constant voltage drivers, the output voltage of a constant current LED driver is usually labeled as a range. This is because the power supply automatically adjusts the voltage based on the number of connected LEDs and their voltage drop. As long as the total voltage across the LEDs in series falls within this range, the power supply can stably output the set current, thereby improving system flexibility and compatibility.

Q2: What happens during overcurrent or short circuit?

Most constant current LED power supplies have built-in overcurrent, short circuit, and overtemperature protection functions. When the system detects an abnormal condition, the power supply will automatically limit the current, shut down the output, or enter a protection state. These protection mechanisms effectively prevent the fault from escalating and improve the overall safety of the lighting system.
