A split phase transformer is a power device used to convert single-phase power to multi-phase power (two-phase or three-phase). Working principle

A 120v to 240v split phase transformer is based on electromagnetic induction. Through a special winding structure and phase shift design, it creates multiple voltages with a certain phase difference at the output. For example, by using auxiliary windings or capacitors to shift the phase, a 90° or 120° phase difference can be created between the output voltages, thus simulating a two-phase or three-phase power supply and enabling the power supply of three-phase equipment.

Function

Single phase to split phase transformers improve motor starting performance to a certain extent, making equipment operation smoother. Compared to directly using single-phase electricity, the rotating magnetic field generated at the output is closer to a three-phase electrical environment, thus offering advantages when driving motor-type loads.
