    An autotransformer differs from a conventional two-winding transformer in one fundamental way: instead of using fully separate primary and secondary windings, it uses a single winding with a shared section serving both the input and output.     Three-Phase Autotransformers for Motor Voltage Matching

    PowerHome three-phase autotransformers are designed to match the available industrial supply voltage to the rated line voltage of compatible three-phase motors and motor-driven equipment. Select a fixed step-up or step-down configuration for 200V, 220V, 230V, 240V, 380V, 400V, 415V, or 480V power systems.

    These dry-type autotransformers change voltage while maintaining the incoming frequency. They are suitable when the supply voltage and motor nameplate voltage differ, but the motor phase, frequency, and operating requirements are compatible.

    Important: This product is a fixed-ratio voltage-matching autotransformer. It is not an autotransformer motor starter, soft starter, VFD, phase converter, voltage stabilizer, or isolation transformer.

    Is an Autotransformer Right for Your Application?

    An autotransformer is suitable when the power supply and connected equipment use the same phase and frequency, electrical isolation is not required, and only fixed step-up or step-down voltage conversion is needed.

    5. Does the motor require reduced starting current, soft starting, or speed control?

      • Yes: Use a purpose-built motor starter, soft starter, or VFD. The fixed-ratio autotransformers on this page are not motor starters.
      • No: Select the autotransformer according to the required input voltage, output voltage, load current, and kVA capacity.

    Important: A fixed-ratio autotransformer changes voltage without changing the incoming frequency. It does not provide galvanic isolation, create three-phase power from a single-phase supply, stabilize fluctuating voltage, or control motor starting current and speed.

    Before ordering, check the equipment nameplate for voltage, phase, frequency, rated current, kW or HP, starting method, and continuous operating load. Select sufficient kVA capacity for the connected equipment and any motor starting demand.
