    Q1. Why is IP 24 enclosure protection significant at 45 kVA?

    At 45 kVA, a transformer is a substantial piece of electrical equipment that may be installed in plant rooms, electrical risers, or industrial spaces where it is exposed to airborne particles, incidental water splashing from cleaning, or condensation. The IP 24-rated enclosure protects solid objects larger than 12.5 mm and water splashing from any direction — meeting the requirements of most indoor industrial and commercial installation environments without needing a separate cabinet. 

    Q2. Can this transformer handle both step-down and step-up on the same installation?

    Yes. This isolation transformer operates bidirectionally — stepping down from 415V to 208V or stepping up from 208V to 415V, depending on how it is connected. On sites where both voltages coexist, such as a facility with a 415V local grid that also needs to power 208V-rated imported equipment, a single unit covers both directions. Note that output voltage in the reverse direction is typically reduced by approximately 2% due to transformer losses — so the intended primary direction of use should be specified at the time of order. Both primary and secondary voltages are also independently selectable across a range of standard values from 120V to 480V if a different voltage pair is required.
