    A Real Workhorse for the Bench
    This thing is built like a tank. The metal case feels solid, and the knob turns smooth as butter. I'm mainly using it to power up old tube gear and test questionable electronics without just slamming full mains into them and hoping for the best. Being able to slowly crank the voltage up from zero has saved me from letting the magic smoke out more than a few times. The 3kVA size is overkill for most little hobby projects, but I'd rather have extra headroom than be wishing for more later. Honestly, if you do any kind of repair work on older stuff, you need one of these on your bench. Zero complaints."
