    How to Size a Transformer

    Single phase: kVA = V × A ÷ 1000
    Three phase: kVA = 1.732 × V × A ÷ 1000

    Choose approximately 20%–25% extra capacity for continuous loads.

    Important Transformer Limitations

    • A transformer changes voltage, not frequency.
    • It does not convert single-phase power into three-phase power.
    • A standard transformer does not regulate unstable input voltage.
